August 2016 : Failed Email 😦

I am having email problems – the September Newsletter email should have had 6 attachments but 3 of them fell off plus I need to clarify whether the AGM is Friday 16th or Thursday 15th September!

Thanks for your patience – the email is repeated here with links for the attachments.

Good afternoon
Welcome to the 2016-17 season!
As usual, I start this email off with apologies to those members of last year’s email list who are not returning to Club this year as we will not have an up to date list until all  England Netball affiliations are done – sorry, just hit delete!
Training and AGM – Affiliations and Fees
Training starts again on Saturday 17th September with our AGM being held at Weston Pools Clubhouse on the 16th – more details in the Newsletter attached.
Please read the Newsletter carefully and bring the completed forms and fees required into Club (AGM) as noted as the start of the term is very busy and the Coaches have a lot to do to sort out new members/affiliations/team structures etc for the new season.  The AGM Agenda will follow shortly.
The sorting tournaments for the U11s U16s and U14s are the first competitive matches this season when our teams’ performances will determine which divisions they are sorted into so please make every effort to attend training and support your team.
Change of Rules
England Netball has made some rule changes which the umpires will be enforcing this season so please read the attached summary so that you are familiar with them.
Medical Consent Form
Please complete and return the attached consent form asap.

March 2015: Netball Youth Camps Are Back!

NYC2015After the success of last summer’s camps, this year England Netball are not only running Netball Youth Camps in the Summer but also in Half Terms and Easter.

Netball Youth Camps give junior players the chance to get together with their friends and take to the court in the holidays!

The camps will be running for one, three or five days, catering for girls between the ages of 9-16. There will be plenty of fun, skills and match play as their coaches give expert tips to help improve play!

The camps are non-residential holiday camps providing ‘Nothing but Netball’; not only will there be top quality coaching and fun netball activities but there is even an opportunity to meet and be inspired by an England player.

Read more here.

April 2014: Further Coverage following Sian’s Award in The Tizer

Just brought this to the website now as I had overlooked it 😦  A great article in The Tizer about Sian and netball in Oswestry 🙂

BCA066.qxp (Page 66)

April 2014: Sian Roberts Receives Award at Oswestry Town Council Civic Dinner for Work with Oswestry Junior Netball Club

On Friday 11th April, at the Oswestry Town Council’s Civic Dinner held at the end of Mayor Cllr Chris Schofield’s term of office, three awards were made to celebrate three local heroes.

I have attached the clipping from the Tizer, which you may have already seen, but I am delighted to tell you that one of those celebrated was our own Sian Roberts whose work and commitment to netball in Oswestry, and in particular our Club, for over 20 years was recognised by the presentation of the Individual Award on the evening.

Many congratulations to Sian and thanks too from the Club for all her hard work.  Well done!

November 2013: Three New Level 2 Coaches!

Oswestry Junior Netball Club is delighted that three of their coaches have recently passed their England Netball UKCC Level 2 Coaching awards.  Congratulations to them!

Hollie Dixon, Georgia Roberts and Katy Yates all started their netball careers with Oswestry Juniors at an early age. Georgia was younger than most as she joined in the training sessions given by her mum Sian Roberts who founded the Club with her friend and fellow coach Jo Jones 12 years ago.  After going away to University, where they continued their netball career, Hollie, Georgia and Katy have now returned to the Club and are putting back into netball by delivering training sessions, helping Sian, a coach for over 20 years, whose coaching time is now restricted.

L-R Hollie, Georgia and Katy

Gaining its CAPS Bronze award back in 2009, the Club has grown and now has over 50 young players aged between 11 and 16, an U19 team in the Oswestry & District Adult League and an U11 section.  This season the Club is fielding an U19, two U14 and two U16 teams in the Shropshire Junior Netball League.  The netball season runs from September to March/April with matches approx every month and training during term-time on Saturday mornings at Oswestry Leisure Centre.
